The creator named Yaahl (the Raven) made the earth and all it’s creatures, and then he rested. After some time on Haida Gwaii (located in Canada), he got a feeling to build houses, which took Yaahl many year. He realized we was lonely and decided to host a giant feast. The creator collected an abundance of food and made gifts from red cedar. Calling out to the East, South, West, and North, each culture came by boat, all special and different. Yaahl gave the people gifts and the Great Feast lasted for years. Before they returned back to their lands, each person was given another gift by the Raven, a unique and special gift that they would carry in their heart. It asks the reader to consider what their gift from Yaahl is.
